I originally trained as a nurse, but have a long time interest in photography. My nursing background is important, as it has given me a huge range of experience working with people. I know how to make people feel comfortable, and at ease. In addition, I can work under pressure and adapt to a changing situation quickly. I realise Nursing and Photography are not two professions which are commonly linked, but I think it works for me
I had my first child in 2003, which further fuelled my interest. I had a very cute subject to model for my portrait practice! In 2005 I started snapping away at family weddings armed with my point and shoot, and was amazed to find the family preferred my pictures over the professional shots. That gave me the confidence to take some wedding photography courses, to observe some professional wedding photographers at work, and to go on and set up my business.
